  1. Allow Deployment of Win32 Apps and PowerShell scripts without Autoenrollment

After much digging into why Win32 (preview) apps were not deploying to end users, I found a comment on this page by Jason Hartman: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Enterprise-Mobility-Security/Sneak-peek-Public-preview-of-Win32-application-deployment-using/ba-p/264460

The Intune Management Extension is only installed when a device is auto-enrolled via Azure AD. Deployment of Win32 Apps and PowerShell scripts require the Intune Management Extension.

Auto-enrollment requires a very expensive Azure AD P2 license that costs more than Intune itself, presumably because it contains many advanced features not particularly related to MDM. However, app deployment and PowerShell scripts are fundamental to MDM.

  2. Distribute Win32 packages to other tenants as MSP / CSP

We're a CSP provider, one of our services is to manage customers Intune MDM setup.

We now have about 15 Intune customers, and we're growing. A common task is to Win32 package apps that basically everyone needs, like Adobe Reader. This is very time consuming and prone to human errors.

What if we could package and upload Win32 packages to our partner tenant, then from customer tenants add us as a package provider, kind of like how Microsoft Store work today. Then from a customer perspective, all they have to do is add packages from us, then assign as they…

  3. Local distribution points like SCCM

One of the big benefits of having SCCM is that you can use local distribution points for locations with a high latency/low bandwidth network. BranchCache is not always enough in certain scenarios.

  4. When adding an app you need to download an attachment

When adding an app it triggers a download that you have to open to get the upload wizard. That is problem one.

Problem two is that every time you finish adding an app, the window closes and if you want to add another app you have to download and open the same file every time.

Solution: figure out a way to not have an extra download and to add an option for "save and new" so the window doesn't close if you want to add multiple apps.

Very annoying to have to continuously reopen that window.

Asked around on this one and confirmed, we have to have the separate app to upload other apps for security reasons. But it shouldn’t have to download the new app every time, just when there’s been a version change.

If you are using Chrome or Firefox, I’ve been told downloading every time is the default behavior, but you can download the setup.exe and save it, to launch when needed.

If you use IE, it’s supposed to launch off the locally stored cache.

It’s definitely on our list of things we know are painful for customers.

  5. Issues of Microsoft Intune Software Deployment on PC

Microsoft Intune provides Software Installation support, which operates under the system context permission on a managed client.
The Software Deployment works perfect until you have to deploy an application, which required user context permission for the installation. There are many user centric software packages out there, which required this kind of installation permission, like Outlook Add-in, XING Social Connector etc.

You can check with following Outlook Social Connector for XING software package http://outlook.xing.com/index_en.html

As the installation behavior is by design, we can’t suggest Microsoft Intune as a suitable solution, until we have completed a complete assessment of existing software catalog…

  6. Discovered Apps update as part of Manual Sync

Currently we have to wait 7 days for a devices discovered apps to be updated. This is making it very difficult to support in real time.

Other MDM's can query apps (and many other options) on demand - this shouldn't be too difficult to achieve.

  7. Option to not make VPP deployed apps "MDM Manged"

We need an option to deploy volume purchased apps to users without making the App MDM managed. For example if I deploy OneDrive to my users as a VPP app to their BYOD device, there should be an option to not make it MDM managed so the app doesn't get removed on un-enrollment. As it stands now if a user un-enrolls their device any apps we have deployed will get removed which may potentially cause loss of personal data. This is an option AirWatch offers that can be set on the app deployment.

  8. Ability to push out Apps at set time and date

It will be good to have a way to set a time and date for the app deployment. This will help when pushing out new or releasing updates to Enterprise apps on Mobile Devices.

  9. Add a Deployed To (User or Device) column for Intune Apps

After deploying an application in Intune you can review it in the admin console and see if it's deployed or not, however you can not easily see if it's deployed to USERS or DEVICES. You can right click on the column headings and add different columns such as Featured App, how about adding 'Deployed To' as a column heading with USERS or DEVICES or NOTHING as the result.

  10. Possibiliy to obtain software from company portal, for multiple users

Please add the possibility to obtain software from Company Portal when switching users.
As it is now, only the associated user for the device is able to obtain applications from the portal.
The current workaround is assigning required software.

As this is supposed to be an alternative to ConfigMgr to many customers, this feature is a must!

  11. Ability to mark an app as BETA

It will be good to be able to mark an app as BETA. When an app is marked as BETA, it will show the BETA banner on the app icon in the Company Portal. This will be a good way to differentiate production and beta apps in the Company Portal.

  12. iOS - Make it possible to see which app belongs to which VPP token

Currently it is not possible to see which app belongs to which VPP token. This makes license management a bit tricky when you have more than one VPP token synced in Intune. The risk of assigning the wrong license to the wrong device is very big if you have bought licenses for same app with both VPP accounts.

So please, make it possible to see which app belongs to which VPP token.

  13. Win32 app deployment extended customisation and automation

Great start with adding the Win32 deployment type. It’s been long awaited.
If possible, we would also like to see the introduction of some of the maturity we currently enjoy with the SCCM product. Such as, the ability to define and add dependencies, to Supersede applications and the ability to automate the complete setup of a packaged app in Intune, ready for deployment testing.
It would also be great if we could see some improvements made to the “Intune Win32 App Packaging Tool”. The first one would be to change the name and get rid of the term Packaging because…

  14. Additional MAM PIN policies

    Provide policy options to:
    * Limit reuse of previous application PINs (e.g., 13 previous PINs)
    * Force PIN change after a defined number of days (e.g., 30)

Provide these options for iOS and Android devices

  15. View all apps assigned to a device group

Currently, there is no easy way to see which apps are assigned to a device group. If I want to get this info, I need to click through each app on my list and check if the device group has been assigned.

  16. Support deployment of Progressive Web Apps with Intune

With the new Edge browser, it would be awesome to support PWAs for enterprise application deployment via Intune.

  17. Schedule app deployments for iOS and Android

Add an option to assign an Android or iOS app or app update to a group (as required or available) at a set time and date,

Often times we are asked to deploy applications on the weekend or off hours, but this requires an Intune admin being online to manually deploy the app. If when adding an app we could set a time and date which it is either configured as available or pushed to the devices that would be helpful.

  18. Office Insider Channel

When deploying Office from Mobile Apps it would be extremely useful if we could deploy the insider versions so we can assign users to test Windows insider and Office insider

  19. Bring back Command Line arguments "/" and "-"

Microsoft made a change at the start of this year for Intune where the Command Line arguments for the Software Publisher must be made in Name=Value arguments. / and – are no longer accepted, which is why installs are failing for some apps that are assigned through required installs with Windows 7 PCs. The article related to this change was updated on 28 Feb 2017 https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/intune-classic/deploy-use/add-apps. The Escalation Engineer that we were working with mentioned that the documentation change to the article does not clearly reflect the deprecation of those switches, but they are depreciated.

    Because of this deprecation,…

  20. Restrict which apps are synced from MS Store for Education to Intune

We manage Intune device enrolment and app deployment for 80+ schools.

With regards to the MS Store for Education, we wish to allow our teachers and students to purchase apps using their education accounts and be entitled to discounts etc. However, we do not wish to sync all their purchased apps across to Intune.

We want the ability to continue to allow staff and students to purchase apps, but only the apps which the centralised IT team want to deploy to all our all devices to be synchronised across to Intune.
With 5000 staff and not counting the number of…
