Remotely uninstall specific app(s) from a particular device
It is now possible to perform app selective wipe but this function is for Microsoft apps only. It is also possible to uninstall a specific app from all devices. However, there is no way to select specific apps to uninstall from a particular device. This feature is useful for troubleshooting app installation or to force-install for only one device/user.
As of the week of Nov 26, 2018, you can remove any app on corporate-owned supervised iOS devices. You can remove any app by targeting either user or device groups with an Uninstall assignment type. For personal or unsupervised iOS devices, you will continue to be able to remove only apps that were installed using Intune.
Does this fill the request, or do you need to be able to remove apps on personal or unsupervised devices?

Seems incredible considering how standard a capability removing an app from a specific device is in other MDM's that this still can't be achieved in intune.
Being unable to force a iOS device specific app reinstall is a massive shortcoming and hinderance to device administration.

The uninstall assignment is not the way in this case.
We need to be able to remove managed apps via the device view. (in our case for iOS devices)

I agree with everyone else on this. Definitely need a way to uninstall a specific app on a specific device and push to reinstall. I'm more specific to iOS, but likely should be available for all Intune managed devices.

@Cathy Moya - Do you have any update on this topic? I think, the question is, if we can target a specific app on a specific device and uninstall it or reinstall it for handling errors and solving problems...

Is there a way to uninstall specific app(s) from both a corporate device, personal device as well as unsupervised devices, in the event a malware application is identified and is needed to be removed from gaining access to corporate data? Froth both iOS and Android devices and in the off event, a macOS device.
This does not fulfill the request. Intune has a bad habbit of throwing error code 0x87D13B66 (app is already un-installed) and we can confirm that the app is in fact not on the supervised device but will not re-download (as required by the assignment to the group it's in). The single device remove app button (should be put into the managed apps > installation details) which would allow the administrator to remove the app remotely on a single device. Then the intune admin can perform a sync to the device which would push the latest app specified in Intune.

Not being able to selectively install/uninstall apps on an individual device basis from the console is a huge shortcoming.
Question about update rings with intune. Can you rollback or uninstall individual updates.

Uninstall option is not available for Android devices. Can we have same for Android as well.

As an additional note on Cathy Moya's reply: Assigning a singular device to a group that is targeted by an uninstall assignment will not work. You will have to assign a user to that group. This can be problematic since it still does not give us the ability to target singular devices to uninstall apps, only users (which in our case have multiple devices).
The user can also not be targeted by an install assignment for the same app that is set to "required" at the same time. The assignment types "required" and "uninstall" seem to conflict with the result being that the app will always be installed.

I often have problems with an app failing installation on an iPad. It would be immensely helpful to be able to select an app on one device and tell it to uninstall and then install again. Creating an uninstall assignment is very cumbersome, and will also be in conflict with the install assignment already deployed to a dynamic group the user is a member of.

I've had this as a request with the MS team for quite a while. Administrators should be able to easily (from the device info page) to manually delete and/or update a managed app.
When some apps cannot be updated per the local VPP update all setting, there needs to be a better way to update individual apps. In a healthcare situation this is imperative.

Cathy, so this Uninstall assignment should allow stock iOS apps (e.g. Photo Booth or TV) to be uninstalled on a corporate-owned supervised iPad - correct? Because this isn't working for me and other documentation (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/apps-deploy) still says it only works if the app was installed via Intune.

For me it would be the latter, and also the ability to address the removal of LOB android apps by admin if the apps are causing an issue.

It is exactly as Andrew described. An example: I go to the Device page of a particular user/device and then see the list of managed apps, and remove any of those apps individually. Although now we have the Uninstall assignment type, this method requires more time to assign, monitor and then maybe remove the user/group later.

I see this request as;
- The ability to remove a "managed app" from a device regardless of the assignment.
This is an option in many EMM solutions, an example would be to present a list of installed applications with the ability to do an individual push/remove actions on a device. (this would be limited to remove applications already installed and push for available/required assignments)

I'm hoping that something is coming soon on this. We need a way to remove apps, specifically LOB apps. If there's a way and I'm missing it, I'd appreciate an assist.

We are also looking for this option in particular for LOB required apps. The required aspect means the users are unable to uninstall from device, but admins should be able to from portal. The current situation means the only way to troubleshoot a problematic LOB required app that requires uninstall is to unenroll device, uninstall the app, and then re-enrol. This is cumbersome and depending on how dynamic device groups for policy assignment can be time consuming.
