Notification/URL call when provisioning process is completed
It would be great to have a kind of visual indication that "provisioning process" after an enrollment has been fully completed.
This is because of following reasons :
- when an employee enrolls his machine at OOBE, it is difficult for himself to know when exactly he can unplugs his device from network, while having his device "fully ready to use". This is to avoid stress that sth is still is progress, as asking employees to closely watch Task Manager (or Event Viewer!) for activity, is not sth realistic.
- User certificate might be provisioned on the device using the Intune PFX/NDES Connector. But if the user starts his browser to early, he might get an negative authentication experience to some business backends, as the certificate is not yet existing on the device.
- IT technicians remotely helping employees to refresh their PCs, might want to know precisely when the provisioning is finished, to avoid to stay unnecessary time on the phone with the employee.
Technically, we would like to have a kind of Intune "post-provisioning PS script", that is executed only at the end, when there are no more any "items" waiting in the various Intune queues. When I say "any items", I think of : all configuration profiles applied (includes Bitlocker policies applied and disk started to encrypt), all Intune PowerShell Scripts executed, all "Required" apps have been downloaded and installed (thinking of MS Office especially as package size is huge), all user certs have been pushed, and 1st software inventory done.
Alternatively, if this is not possible, at least offer a way to trigger a call to a custom URL on the client, that will open with the default browser. This browser session will display a nice message to the user, and this way, we can even send an SMS to the enduser if he is not in front of his PC during provisioning, and/or chain this event with sth else using Azure Functions Apps.
As of today, the white progress bars for Required-type apps in Start menu, are not really a reliable provisioning indicator...
Seems other people would like to do notifications (https://microsoftintune.uservoice.com/forums/291681-ideas/suggestions/18562114-mail-notification-for-enrolled-devices), so might be worth to improve things in this direction.
