Support for deployment of single .msp file
I would like support in Intune to update installed MSIs with .msp files.
I know that you can use deploy Win32 app now and put the .msp file in the <packagename>.intunewin file, but I would like to have the functionality that the classic Intune portal has. To just deploy a single .msp file as an update.
For example to update Adobe reader now, I have to create a new .intunewin package every time I need to update Adobe Reader. Which creates a lot of extra work.
Auto update of Adobe Reader is not an option, because not all of our users are local admins (and they should not be).
I also would like this feature to be added ASAP. My company is moving to inTune in full speed. But the stakeholders did not understand the security concerns with regarding the third party software patches. And especially the issues with Adobe patches are not able to be deployed via inTune, this will raise a huge red flag when system was compromised. Please make this available!
Is there a technical issue that explains why this "feature" has yet to be added to InTune? InTune has been in-use for multiple years...Is this even on the radar?
Being able to distribute MSI Patch files is HUGE! The documentation I have found says the Win32 app converter supports MSI, EXE, and MSP, but that is not true! Trying to load just a single MSP fails. I understand the work around is to package the MSI with the MSP, and just write the command to invoke the MSP, however the MSI for Bluebeam is 1GB in size, whereas the MSP is 100MB. Having to load a 1GB MSI to deploy a 100MB MSP is a terrible oversite for the Win32 app dev team. PLEASE work this fix into your next release!
