Allow User Name in Device Name Template
Under an enrollment profile, you can set a device name template to rename all devices being added. I'd like to have the option of adding a username in the front of the device type. This way, instead of seeing "iPhone" in my device list, I'll be able to see something like "JSmith iPhone"

I learned to live with this for a while, however, now that we also have Cisco Umbrella implemented, having the ability to pass userprincipalname as a parameter would make device listing in Umbrella much more clearer. Especially since the device serial is already recorded anyways.

It would be so helpful if we could get.
{{userprincipalname}} - John@contoso.com -

It would be a fantastic feature to be implemented and get each computer identified easily combined with an incremental counter (for more than 1 device per user), etc

I would like to see the ability to create your own custom variables (e.g. {{serialnumberfirst8digits}}. Then have the ability to apply these custom variables to numerous configurations, to include Device Name Template and Lock Screen Profile. When the Device Name gets applied to iOS devices, it is broadcasted as SSID for hotspot. We would like to allow for a unique identifier, without broadcasting entire Serial Number or even users names as SSID. {{SerialNumberlast4digits}} and {{udidlast4digits}} are not unique enough in my opinion for a Lock Screen Profile or a Device Name template. Would like to apply to ~8500 devices.

I think the options available for app config should also be available for device naming - please add this so we can name our devices appropriately. We also came from AirWatch where this was possible.

This should be standard. There should be more variable options. We use airwatch and it has many variables allowed for enrollment snd can changes on the fly. We are evaluating intune right now and being able to set device names with username is important to easily identify the device. Also goes to the lock screen message. Lack of variables such as username, makes device name template and lock screen message less capable to identify in event of loss.

Can't Believe this hasn't implemented with the Device Name Template.
Who really think it's usefull to have the deviceType and SerialNumber has a naming convention…..
