Allow installs to be repaired
Too often it seems that "one or more agents are not installed properly" on my client computers. The client computers don't seem to be aware of this though, as trying to install the software on them reports that the software is already installed.
It would be nice to be able to "repair" an install of Intune without having to go through the whole process of uninstalling and re-installing the agents.
On October 16, 2019, we announced that support for the Intune PC software client (PC agent) will end on October 15, 2020, along with the Silverlight-based Intune Classic console. You should plan to move to use the MDM channel to manage your Windows PCs as soon as possible. Learn more: https://aka.ms/intune_silverlight_console
This is a good idea
There are some command line methods to uninstall the agent components on the net but getting a device going again is at least 30 minutes of work. And because it's command line that effectively rules out users being able to fix this problem.
Problems with the agent are not rare and can occur if the user doesn't turn on their surface pro 3 for a week and the clock goes out of sync, for example.
This has happened on multiple machines. You cannot run the installer a second time. It flashes and then the installer fails to run. No matter how many times the machine is restarted or how well the machine is cleaned out.
This started happening when I attempted to run the InTune installer without a network connection. The install fails because it can;t download the components and then is never able to run again.
