App deployment for iOS - grey out device groups
While setting up app deployment for iOS devices using managed apps I could not get the apps to show up in the company website.
The issue was that I had deployed the apps to a DEVICE group instead of a USER group.
If app deployment is a per user configuration, could you add a warning or grey out the device groups when adding a managed iOS app as it will never be available when the user logs into the company website unless it assigned to a group the user is in. That has taken me a couple hours of support calls and such to figure this out and I could not find this in any documentation.
Yeah, that’s a good idea. I’m going to move this to the ideas forum to be considered there. I’m also going to make a duplicate of this that says "add documentation about . .. " and assign it to the documentation category. Our writers are awesome about picking up stuff like this, so at least in the short term we should be able to make that more clear.
Ran into this issue as well and was very annoyed. Thought it was a bug with the new azure portal. Anyway, without this feature, there's no way to make an app available to only company owned devices since the user could also have a personal device. It sounds like we can make required apps install on a device group though.
