How can we improve Microsoft Intune

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. Azure Admin Portal is not user friendly at all.

The Azure Intune Portal is not user friendly at all and very confusing. We preferred the old Classic Portal where it had a nice UI and was easy to use.

We easily get frustrated with the Azure Portal.

  2. It would be great if Intune could gather information regarding which devices are enrolled in other EMMs.

It would be great if Intune could gather information regarding which devices are enrolled in other EMMs. This would enable companies switching to Intune from another EMM (e.g. Citrix XenMobile) can use conditional access to control the behavior on all devices based on enrollment (e.g. only allow devices enrolled either in Intune or XenMobile) all from the Intune console.

  3. Ability to setup conditional access policy to only allow access to specific applications from certain WAN IP addresses

Ability to setup conditional access policy to only allow access to (proportions of applications in) Office365 from trusted IPs. Currently this is not possible without ADFS claim rules.

  4. Allow inTune AFW secure Android contacts to be accessed via voice commands

Allow inTune AFW secure Android contacts to be accessed via voice commands. Currently only the non-AFW contacts app can be accessed with voice commands and it's gatekeeping our more mobile work force to have no voice access to their contacts delivered through inTune and O365.

  5. Ensure each Assignment control explicitly indicates if it’s intended to be assigned to User or Device.

Ensure each Assignment control explicitly indicates if it’s intended to be assigned to User or Device.

Arrange settings applicable to Users into a User Configuration profile blade.

Arrange settings applicable to Devices into the Device Configuration blade.

Currently, they are jumbled together and require admin to evaluate “context.” Separating them will reduce incidence of inappropriate assignments.

  6. The user ability to move the apps location/order on the Managed device

We would like the ability for the user to move the location of the deployed app to the iOS device. Currently the user doesn't have the capability to reorder the apps locations or the screens.

  7. Allow port information to be included in VPN profile "IP address or FQDN"

Currently, the VPN profile "IP address or FQDN" will not recognize the inclusion of a port number. When I attempt this, saving the profile fails. Yet, at least for Cisco AnyConnect, the "port" and "dtls port" key/value pairs are not honored in the connection attempt - I have attempted and verified this. In the AnyConnect app, I can directly include a port number with an IP/FQDN, so it appears that is where the AnyConnect app expects this information to be. I would like Intune to allow including this port information in the "IP address or FQDN" field as well.

  8. Add a suspend feature to intune

Allow an admin to suspend Intune management or protection for a period of time without the need to uninstall the product. This would allow us to do OS upgrades / updates.

Can you give me more information on this scenario? Say I wanted to “Suspend Intune” – would I be turning off the admin console, or just turning off the client? You talk about “without the need to uninstall” and of course with the service, nothing is installed. Would you just go flip a button and then the clients would stop getting policy? Or stop acting on policy? I’m also not clear why you’d need to do this to do OS upgrades or updates – why can’t you do it with Intune running?

Some more detail would be helpful.

  9. Startup applications should not appear behind the start menu in KIOSK mode

When using KIOSK mode in Intune, an application that is configured to automatically launch on startup appears behind the full screen start menu, giving the impression that the application has not started. If you Alt-tab, the application can be switched to, but a KIOSK user will just start the application again, so you have two instances of the apps running.

Conditional access to Wi-Fi resources so Windows devices only get the Wi-Fi settings if they have an active up-to-date antivirus (not just Microsoft Endpoint Protection Client?)

I'd like to be able to setup the the following scenario:

High School students bringing their own devices to school. We want them to be able to add their school account to their device or use the company portal to login with their school email address. We want to be able to check any windows machine for an active antivirus product (not just Microsoft Endpoint Protection) and deploy Wi-Fi configuration if the device is…

  12. Add a single user as an assignment member for Role

When giving service accounts permissions to perform certain operations, it'd be great if we could create a custom Role in Intune where we don't have to create a group and have the service account added as a member of that group. That's the case today and it'd be an improvement if we could allow for a single user (service account) selection for the members of a custom Role.

  14. Add validatio for null Azure Intune Device Enrollment > Device Categories

Currently, within Azure Intune, you can add in null Device Category values programatically via the Graph API. You cannot however, add these Device Category values manually via the Portal, as it validates.

If you add null Device Categories into Azure Intune, then the Intune Company App on Windows 10 crashes when the user launches the app and it attempts to log in, due to the null value Device Category present. This needs to be fixed and validation added so that if the null value is introduced via Graph, it will stop the value being added (as it currently validates using…

  15. Playing Skype Voicemail files - Intune app protection

Hi, we use app Microsoft app protections policies through Intune (BYOD) in our organisation. Everything seems to be working ok but we've come across an issue. We can successfully open most attachments from within Outlook ie. .doc and .pdf. However, we use Skype voicemail but we can't open/play .mp3 files as there's no supported app to play them. Does Microsoft offer an Android app we can play these on?

  16. Simplify app creation for Windows 10 devices

In order to create an windows store application to Windows 10 devices, we need to create two applications in the console app - one with Windows 8 and later and the other as Windows Phone. It is really painful experience as we need to perform this for every application.

  17. A policy to App Selective Wipe linked to group membership

A policy that would carry out an App Selective Wipe when the user is moved to a certain OU. For example when our user's leave their account automatically moves to an OU called "Expired".
It would be good to retire their device automatically as soon as they move to "Expired"
At present we have to do this manually.

  18. Extensive Security Settings Control

It would be ideal to inhibit infections by enabling the capabilities to control this and similar settings in Andoid.
This concept can be applied to Apple and Windows.

  19. assign devices to a department

We would like to be able to assign specific devices to a department. We could then differentiate the intune device policies such that
if the user is in the designated department and has a device in the linked device group they would get one specific set of policies (in our case this would be for corporate devices and include LOB apps etc), if the user is in the department but their device is not in the linked device group, they would get a different set of policies ( in or case BYOD).
