I can confirm that work on this has started and we hope to have a public preview sometime this year. Thanks for your patience!

COPE device settings will change in Android 11. How will this affect existing and new devices managed with Microsoft Intune? More details: https://developer.android.com/work/versions/android-11#work_profile_enhancements_for_company-owned_devices
On the Microsoft 365 Roadmap webpage and among the Microsoft Intune news, I don't see any of the expected improvements:
• https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/fundamentals/in-development
Managed Google Play-based connectivity to Android Enterprise has been available for some time, but in fact Google Domain-based is also available in the Google Play EMM API: https://developers.google.com/android/work/play/emm-api/create-enterprise#google_accounts This development would be important because you can only use a consumer Google Account with Managed google Play, even though a company that has a G Suite / Google Workspace subscription wants to use an account there.
The solution has already been implemented from other manufacturers, eg Hexnode: https://www.hexnode.com/mobile-device-management/help/how-to-enroll-android-devices-in-android-in-the-enterprise-using-gsuite-in-hexnode-mdm/
