I was shocked to find out that Intune doesnt support direct installation of LOB apps and only supports Managed Google Play distribution. We might as well just use Google's free sample management suite with the sample DPC as the base AE management APIs are all Intune seems to support anyway. It's even more shocking to find out that Intune's DPC then removes LOB apps that are installed using alternative means! Completely worthless for COSU deployments of AEDO devices until we can get LOB apps and file delivery.
We have this idea already for a content locker – https://microsoftintune.uservoice.com/forums/291681-ideas/suggestions/9564453-push-encrypted-content-to-device – do you want the encryption or are you asking for just plain file push?Matt Dermody commented
We don't just need a content locker, we need the ability to push files to specific directories on the device. Certain applications leverage config files in the shared storage like /sdcard/ or /enterprise/ on Zebra Android devices as not every application has migrated to Managed Configurations. Zebra's DataWedge application, Ivanti's Velocity, and many other LoB applications rely on external configuration files. Firmware update .ZIPs should also be distributable to the devices. Content lockers are for a BYOD use case and do not service the COPE, COBO, and COSU use cases. I can't believe this feature request was posted in 2016 and still not available.
Hi, if you caught our announcements at Ignite, we announced that we will support device owner mode for Android fully managed corporate devices. It will preview by end of year. Check out our EMS blog for more info
So we’ll call this “started”. :-)
Also, we’ve been supporting Android kiosk mode since July.
