As of the week of August 27, you can use a template to control how the machine will be automatically named. So not exactly static, but gets you away from total random. From the discussion, sounds like not total random was good enough for some, but not all, so I will switch this back to “noted”.

more detail about what we released in August:
When you create an autopilot deployment profile, you can designate a name, which must be 15 characters or less, and can contain letters, numbers, and hyphens. Names can’t be all numbers. Use the SERIAL macro to add a hardware-specific serial number. Alternatively, use the RAND:x macro to add a random string of numbers, where x equals the number of digits to add.
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/enrollment-autopilot#create-an-autopilot-deployment-profile

It’s only available with the Windows Insider build for now.

This is something we hear a lot, but there are degrees of server support – just like the desktop client, or just a subset of those features. We would love to get more specific in a survey we just put up here https://microsoft.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_0P65dThvhzD5ZUV. We’ll leave it up until mid January, since the holidays will have some people out of town for a few weeks. Thanks! We look forward to hearing from you!

    Hey guys,
Checkout this new Modern MDM tool we are using, they allow you to install any apps you wish, .EXE, .MSI, pre-packaged, custom, powershell, modern, chocolatey and etc packages either in a sequence or with API. You don't have to worry about converting Win32 apps again, You can also check auto update and auto package so when there's a new version available, your engineers never have to worry about keeping them up to date, the AI will do it for them.

    Hey guys,
Checkout this new Modern MDM tool we are using, they allow you to change client settings like old days of SCCM to allow whatever desired policy you want for 100s of settings not just software or hardware distribution. You can even force them to happen immediately.

    Hey guys,
Checkout this new Modern MDM tool we are using, they allow you to remove endpoints if any, because by design, they don't allow duplicate computer names, but if you have multiple computer names with same serial number, you can remove them one a time or in a bulk, plus you can setup a policy to remove devices that haven't checked in for a period of time.

Updating the status with a note from one of our PMs on the Intune team:
Hey there! I’m Liz and I’m a PM at Microsoft. Microsoft has a cloud printing solution called Universal Print and it’s currently in public preview: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-preview-access

and you can use Intune to help deploy: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-intune-tool.

    Currently only for Win10 devices.

We’re also working on improvements to the provisioning and deployment process and more solid integration with Intune, so keep the feedback coming!

    Hey guys,
Checkout this new Modern MDM tool we are using, they allow you to run anything on a schedular, specially scripts. I find it extremely useful, Also they allow you to do pull not just push, so if you run a powershell command, you will get your result from the endpoints, user or etc in the portal based on whatever data you have requested. This is so cool
